Shrimp for Trout

I have only been trout fishing a couple of times in my life and have only caught one keeper trout. I am trying to find out how to catch fresh shrimp during this time of year for trout fishing. Everybody tells me you need to fish with live shrimp.

I am six months behind a triple by-pass and ready to start fishing again.

Any help will be appreciated.
