Decided to try Park Road Park today. Thought I was going to be disappointed - what looked like lily pads from the road turned out to be pond scum. Threw top water frog and a weedless baby brush hog. Got a hit on the hog then nothing. Moved to a different spot and it was game on! I rigged myself and my son with the baby brush hogs and they wouldn't stop biting. We landed 4, and he got his very first lmb caught all on his own from cast to landing. What a thrill! I've not had much luck with bass but today all the things I've read about came into play: they were striking on the drop, near cover, in the shadows. You could fell the hits like a hammer. Sometimes you could see a ripple in the water right behind your lure and you knew the strike was coming. Other times you'd see the line take off before you felt it. All in all it was very affirming and just a joy to watch my son learn and practice different techniques. Yeehah!
