I've seen a bunch of pictures lately of bass being held for photo's and some of 'em make me cringe.
I read a good discussion on another forum a couple of years ago and it got me to start holding the fish correctly as not to unnecessarily injure them (note: I pretty much release all bass that I catch, especially smallmouth).
I guess I was pretty bad about the way I held them before reading the discussion, so I hope this diagram and thread helps to get folks thinking about the subject:

I've gotten to the point that I only take pictures of the really good ones, or unusual looking specimen and try to get them back in the water asap.
