I had the pleasure of fishing 3 rivers this past weekend that hold smallies.
Saturday with Tread, Luckyone 27105, Catawba, Mikesfishing and myself on the Uwharrie.
My paddle broke about 1/2 way through the 7 mile trip and I had to finish with half a paddle.
It was a fiberglass paddle and I wasnt really stressing it when it happened.

Fishing was fairly slow with mirky water, but fish were caught including smallmouth, largemouth, a blue cat, and what I am told is a roanoake

This was my first trip on the U and it was a scenic place. It had less gradient that I am used to and more flat water sections.

Sunday, Tread and I met and fished the Dan on one of the tougher sections that has a lot of class 2 rapids.
Fishing was kind of slow with pretty good water clarity.
I did manage this 15 1/2 'fancy schmancey' smallie early in the trip

About 1/2 way through this section at a tough class 2 rapid I snapped my paddle in half. I had to finish this rapid with the broken paddle and the next 6 or so class 2's over the next 2 miles of river. It was tough!
I'll post pictures later for this trip and monday's as they are on my home computer.
Sunday had myself and old friend fishing another small smallie flow.
The fishing was much better yesterday, especially numbers wise. We each lost count and both had smallies over 15".
I brought 2 paddles with me for this trip, but only needed one :)
Can't wait for next weekend!
