I had to show off my new bass rig, after a few weeks it is finally ready to fish.
The rod was built by Brett at Carolina Custom Rods. It is a 6'6" Hydra blank with Alp guides, a carbon trigger grip, and 7" cork handle. I wanted a pretty conservative wrap with some accents to match the reel.
The reel is a veritable work of art. It is made by Jerry Foran, who owns Foran Reel Service in FL. He specializes in round Ambassadeurs and builds them from scratch with all new Swedish parts. His main business is surf casting reels, but this one is a 5500C with 6 Abec 5 bearings, Carbontex drag washers, and ceramic pawl. It has a few other custom details in the way he builds them. This thing is smooth as silk.
