Harkers Island advice?

A buddy and I are planning to head to Harkers Island at the end of July for a few days of chasing flounder. I haven't targeted flounder before and have just picked up the occasional one here and there while fishing for specks or reds. Any tips / recommendations for a relative newbie? Other better areas for flounder ? That wing dam / breakwater out on the south side of Cape Lookout is a bit of a run but looks very interesting for a mixed bag. Anyone ever stay at Harkers Island Fishing Center motel before?
