Hey y'all,
An update on Kernersville lake for anyone in the area who doesn't have the time or equipment to make further trips like me. For anyone who doesn't know, they've got a great set up over there - row boats are available for rental for $3/3hours, and you can bring a trolling motor.
Anyway, I've had the best luck on a simple spoon. The catfish and small bass seem to be sitting just a few feet under water in the shallow arms of the lake. If you can run a spoon slowly just over the top of the weeds you'll have some luck. Water temp is up to 86 degrees though, so bass might be a bit trickier than the catfish (which are biting spoons and lures hard.
Heading back out soon to fish some spinnerbait.
Other than that, just fishing for some advice on lake leamon down by Wilmington and some advice for my first surf/pier fishing trip to topsail beach. Never done it before. Advice on rod weight and bait? Will I have to rent one or will my 7' bass rod do the trick?
