This spring I upgraded my Lowrance Mark 5x (black & white display) to a Humminbird 597 (color display + GPS). My Lowrance indicated a hard bottom by a WIDE line at the bottom of the screen. But I read in the manual that on the Humminbird, a NARROW line on the bottom of the screen indicates a hard bottom. I was surprised to see the opposite of the Lowrance.
Thinking that it was just the color display Humminbird units that indicated a hard bottom by a narrow line, I went and looked at the manual for the Humminbird 570 (black & white display). On that model as well, a hard bottom is indicated by a NARROW line.
Anybody else find this difference weird or confusing, or know why this is?
