Local Artist Lee Abston of Poquoson Virginia won second place with this great miniature water color he painted of a picture I had taken of a Pelican in flight at the Third Island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
"Small Works: Miniatures by Hampton Roads Artists" opens at the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. The popular annual show features more than 300 works less than 20 square inches or smaller than a 4.5-inch cube. Through Dec. 2. 4205 Victoria Blvd., Hampton.
Lee works at NASA Langley Va. and paints part time but I am sure he could do it for a living.
I feel privileged that he chose my picture and did such an awesome job illustrating it with a brush.
My wife had seen the painting on display and was able to purchase the original from a friend that had already bought it.
Here is the painting by Lee Abston.
