My best friend and life partner and I were fishing in a bass tournament on High Rock Lake a couple weeks ago and were not having much luck with the bass near Tamarac Marina. We moved down lake to what are usually islands (when the water is up) and started casting the very windy banks with some square billed crankbaits.
Bass fishing quickly turned into striper catching as Kelli called out, "fish on...Fish On...FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!"
After a fairly long struggle using a 6 foot, medium action bass rod loaded with 10 pound test P-Line, she fought a striper of around 20 pounds into net range which I so elegantly...well...actually it was rather clumsily...scooped up after several tries. You see, I have a bass sized net...NOT a striper sized net!

A few casts later and she hooked into another very nice striper, netted a bit more adeptly by me, and proudly showing off another nice fish for the camera.

After leaving that area to try to find some green bass, we gave up and went back to the stripers, and I was able to put a couple more nice ones in the boat. We lost a couple, had one break off and may have actually had a bass on (although it cannot be proven that it was a bass or a small log...er...striper...) and we had a blast!

In the end, no green bass were harmed in the making of this report, but a few stripers, including Kelli's largest fish of her life, were very well received and returned to the waters of High Rock to star in another upcoming production of HIgh Rock bass/striper fishing!
