So decided after I hear alot of the wrecks had cleared I decided to head over to umstead about 10:30 this morning. I was going to try a new spot I had fished last week but with all the rain it was way to wet to slop through to the spot in my sneakers.

So I headed over to the boat house and that direct sun felt good. Worked a senko for the first 30 minutes and had two nibbles, both times grabbed line and and created alot of slack but gone by the time I was able to reel in and set the hook.

Decided to switch over to a rat l trap and on the third cast WHAM a good heavy hit and I new it was on. Came to the surface once and could tell it was good sized and this one had alot of fight in it. Started working him in and now started a run toward me and I was able to keep him goin.

There is this branch that sticks up and he was working toward it and did my best to have him avoid it. Now I have him against the wall and hes still fighting hard. I figure I am going to need to work him toward the bank since didnt want to try to lift him over the wall and rails. He took a run toward the fence and started taking drag however I had to move the rod to try to keep him from going under the fence and he kept moving out toward the docks just as I got the rod lowered and avoiding the fence he gave another big swirl and was off.

From the size looked to be a 5 - 6 pounder, sure wish I had landed that one it was a good fight and if I would have been able to keep him away from the fence and dock pilons I would be posting a picture.

Oh well wind picked up at about 11:30 or so decided to pack it up and head home to warm up. At least its good to get a bite and a fight!!!!
