Went down to Blounts creek early this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Wildlife ramp is finished. There are two nice concrete ramps and a fishing dock as well.
I was really excited to get on the water because I just bought a Humminbird Piranahmax 230 depth finder and wanted to see how it would work. I got it hooked up and hit the water at around 7 am. It didn't take too long for the boats to start showing up. I had never seen so may people out there! Everyone was on the hunt for the elusive speckled trout but no one seemed to find them. I saw two caught between 7 and 1 pm. I kept hearing the same thing everyone hears...."you shoulda been here last week".
I did manage to catch two nice 15 inch stripers and 2 15 inch puppy drum. It wasn't a total loss and I was really surprised to see the two drum. I didn't know they liked the lower salinity cold water. All were caught on white zman paddle tails.
As always, it was great to be out there. There are fish biting so get out there and get some!
