Freshwater Cataloochee

Met Driver this a.m. at the Metal bridge. Both of us came out swinging, Jason first with a 10'' or so brown, then I followed with a similar brownie on a big cone head booger. Water was up, just this side of unwadeable, and slightly tinged from the blasted downpours that have visited the mtns. on a daily basis. Water temps were in the low 50's and it felt good, thought about wet wading, but the air temps were a little too chilly. We fished for a hour or so, caught a few more browns and rainbows in the 7-9 inch range, some smaller. ( way smaller:p) By noon, the water had gotten the best of us ( I haven't waded in a few months) so we headed to some headwaters. Caught some beautiful fish with some suprising size to them and I finished my slam with some thumb sized brookies:o. There was several species of bugs that would come off in waves, you could see them hatch all day long, but nothing causing any serious feeding frenzies. Was doing good, no serious underwater dances were performed today ( caught myself falling FIRST thing this morning, but averted disaster) UNTIL I caught my first brookie. Just after releasing him, my feet come out from underneath me and I land on my knee:mad:. Took a small swim, but survived. I think from now on, as soon as I get my gear on, I'm going to bash my knees with a framing hammer, you know, just to get it out of the way. I limped around for a minute (or 30) and whined, so we headed back down and fished a short stretch behind Palmer House. Caught a few more fish, missed a dandy on a borrowed booger. By then, it was 5:00 and the clouds were getting ready to empty. Don't have any pics, wife had the camera today as soccer games take precedence over fishing trips, but I think Driver snapped some pics with his phone. It was good fishing with ya, Jason:cool:
