As everyone has known my wife ruth has had some real ups and downs since june of last year and after all of that she has managed to keep her faith and trust in our father.
This weekend was going to be a test of our wills once again,i planned on takeing her ouit saturday but the weather was not working with us,i scouted saturday and told her if i found them i would call her and see if she wanted to come out.
It never happened saturday i managed one trout on a chug bug and a blue on cut bait along with a shark towards dark,so goes fishing.
On sunday (today) i planned on getting her out early but again the weather wasn't the best so i went alone to search again and see if i could come up with some drum and again i would call her if i found some.
I hit a few places for bait and headed to try a spot i had never fished before,i set up on a corner and tossed the first live mullet into the drink,before i could set it in the rod holder it was slammed and i missed,i get the bait back and there is teeth marks on one side and no scales on the other,definetly a drum.
I put a fresh bait back out and it was slammed again this time i get it in and its a nice 18 inch drum,being me i put it back since to me there isnt much to an 18 incher and i wanted a bigger one ,plus find out if there was a school in the area.
Line back out and another drum ;) i make the call and in 10 minutes my wife is onboard and were heading back to where the drum were,i prayed they were still there and that i could get my wife onto a few of them.
I pull into the spot but opposite of where i started and set in the lines,after what seemed like hours but was only more like a half hour ruths rod slam's over and the fight is on :)
Finally 20 minutes later she is holding her first drum of the year and her first drum after 3 brain surgery's at 24 inches long to which we enjoyed for dinner tonite.
All i can say is god is GREAT and the queen has returned ;)
Many thanks to the friends and family for the prayers and well wishes for us it truely meant alot but her she is in all her glory :) i ended up with 4 and one broke off but she ended up witrh the biggest my biggest was 18 1/2
