Wife and I where not planning on fishing Saturday, but woke up and caught the bug. Both of us looked at eachother and said lets go. We had just bought a Triton 186 about 3 weeks ago and loving it. We put in at Copper Head Island - Lake Wylie and headed north. Wife was using cranks all day and was first to catch a LMB. I was jigging against the banks and cover. After her first catch, I switched to crank bait similar color an depth and caught my first fish of the day. About 30 minutes later she caught the biggest LMB of the day - about 4.5 lbs near the shore by a dock. She put up a great fight and made several jumps. I was worried she would spit out the crank bait but once she was landed, all six hooks where securely in the mouth - that fish was not going anywhere.
We moved on to another location and seemed the fish did not want to bite on cranks anymore. I went to old faithful and picked up my finesse rod and put on a senko. I continue to bang cover eventhough all the fish I have caugh this year have not been under some sort of cover -figured they would have to get there sometime with the weather getting warmer sooner this year. After about 5 casts on a downed-tree I landed a 2.5lb bass. I had light line on and was afraid the LMB was going to get tangled - and guess what she did. Lucky form me, was able to land her. Great day - caught 4 fish - two each with the wife catching the largest of the day! Great fun
Lake Wylie continues to produce.
As a side note - went golfing yesterday near Asheboro -Tot Hill Farm and saw Badin was muddy and I am sure the bass action is completely shut down
