I fished a medium piedmont flow last Thursday for a few hours after work. Water was low, clear, and this particular section is very shallow. Fish were mainly in moving water in the deeper pockets behind riffles and a few hanging under wood. I was rushing to beat dusk, casting wildly, and couldn't get into rhythm. Caught them on a swimbait, buzz bait, and got one on a new toy (swim jig with big hammer trailer, thanks Tread!). The swim jig fish missed the buzzbait initially and took the swim jig after two attempts. I caught 6 or so and missed 4. Caught one bass after 4 attempts with two different lures.

I managed to get out early today for a few hours and fish a small peidmont flow that usually does well for me in the spring and fall. The water was low and mostly stagnant. Caught a mixed bag: 5 bass, 2 pickerel, 1 warmouth, 1 catfish, ~8 crappie. Most fish came on a smoke colored fat albert grub or a bettle spin. The bass were tough to find. They didn't seem to be hanging under wood and most were caught off the bank near the channel. Got into the crappie on one laydown and finally had the sense to use my lunch cooler for the fish. Brought home 3 decent sized fish. I can't easily ID the catfish, channel cat? Any guesses?
