Hey everybody.
I can't remember the last time I posted a report. Not much fishing time lately and nothing noteworthy to report when I do get out. However the wife unit was out of town this weekend so I decided to hit the water.
Saturday...
I decided to hit the local river for some catfish action. I had plenty of time to kill so decided to put in and paddle way upstream to fish a place that I had only satellite scouted. Bad news upon arrival... area now charges a launch fee and I didn't have any cash on me. Not to be deterred, I came up with a Plan B. Went downstream a few miles and went to an area that I had had mixed results with previously. It took a while to make bait, but I finally did. I tried a few areas with no bites but finally got a good run after about 45 minutes. I could tell it wasn't very big, but when I got it up next to the canoe, I realized it was a flathead! The only other one I had ever caught was about 10" long so this "little" 5.5 lb flattie is a trophy to me. They are a different looking fish for sure. Anyhow that was the only cat for the day.

Sunday....
I wanted a change of pace so I decided to make the run to Jordan. I really don't like dealing with the summer pleasureboat crowds, but I thought that the dreary day would keep most of them at home. I was right....until 9:30. Then they came out in force. Oh well what can you do. Anyhow fishing wise, I didn't have a banner day, but I accomplished my intended change of pace. I caught one bass banging the banks, two small white bass casting to breaking fish, two catfish (one white and one channel) trolling cranks, one perch trolling a grub, and one crappie vertical jigging suspended fish. So that makes 6 species on a hodgepodge of methods.... works for me.:) I also saw two bald eagles and four otters. The bass was the only fish remotely camera worthy. I wish I would have had a camera with a better zoom for the otter.
