Bite is going strong out at Kerr right now! Fished on Monday night and put some decent fish in the boat. Most were in the 8-10 pound range, with 5 over 15. Big fish of the night ended up being right at 20 pounds. No monsters this trip, but still alot of fun to catch. I can still hear the bait clickers screaming in my head! :D
Fish were caught on a mix of bait, from cut gizzard shad to live perch/bream, and most of the fish came out of pretty shallow water. Even had several fish who must've thought they were bass, because they were quite acrobatic. Water temps were in the high 80's most places we fished, but the air temp was perfect all night in the low 70's.
The next AM we woke up and fished a couple hours before the sun got high, and landed a couple more decent fish. We released all but the 3 smallest ones, which I took home for a Vietnamese dish called Ca Kho To. It's a very tasty way to cook catfish, and makes a nice alternative to my usual batter and fry method! Quick and easy to make as well. Until next time, tight lines!
