Hey guys, I'm looking to invest in a decent trout-dedicated setup. I've decided on a 7' to 7'3 medium/ML action rod depending on the particular model and a 2000 or 2500 size reel. That being said I have narrowed it down to a few combos. My Budget is $200 max, the less the better. I also only make it down in the fall 2 or 3 times typically so I want to get something that will last but not break the bank. I really want the Penn Battle/Legion Combo but its at the top of my budget..
Reel Options:
Penn Battle 2000
Penn Fierce 2000
Daiwa Legalis 2500
Shimano Sahara 3000
Rod Options:
Penn Legion 7'3 ML
Penn Allegiance 7'3 ML
Team Daiwa T 7' M
Shimano Teramar 7' M
Ugly Stik Lite Inshore Select 7' M
What would you guys do? I own the Fierce 4000 and like it a lot and its matched up with an allegiance, but I just don't know if the allegiance rod is gonna be sensative enough for what I want to accomplish. The price would be right on target, but I really really like the Teramar rod and Battle Reel. The Legalis also is incredibly smooth for the price. I sat there and talked with the guy at the desk at bass pro for about an hour and a half today and am still completely torn. Thanks for any and all input!
