Ok, this is my first fishing report, so please let me know if I say to much or not enough.
Fished blounts creek yesterday (10-10-12) out of my kayak. I have never fished this area before so I did not know where and what the fish were biting on. I launched my Kayak at 6:45am at cotton patch landing. If you have never used the ramp before make sure you talk to the owners before you park your vechile. I started fishing immediately out of the ramp with top water Zara Spook yellow with orange spots on top. I also threw a Glow white with a green tail Berkely Gulp shrimp on a cork out the back and a 3m Mirro lure Grey top with white sides out the back. I fished hard through the creek and was not getting any bites on any baits. While I was fishing boats kept going past me, making me believe that I was not in the right spot.
I decided to paddle the whole creek and find out where these boats were fishing! I paddled all the way to the mouth of the creek, and found the boats fishing the mouth of the creek and around the bridge. I sarted fishing the mouth of the Creek and still no luck! One older gentleman drove over to me and started up a converstion, which is usually odd around these parts. People tend to keep to themselves! haha. The man was super nice and was having no luck as well. We talked for a while and he told me a couple to spots to try. I fished all the way back having some bites on top water, but no landings.
Getting frustrated I decided to paddle in the Middle of the channel and start making my way back. Suddenly WHAM! My 3m Mirrolure was hit, and FISH ON! I landed a 17" inch trout! I was stoked! I paddled in a circle and went back through the area twice, but nothing hit. I decided to have some lunch and kept the baits out while I ate. Then something nailed my Orange cork! I turned around and WHAM it hit it again, popping the cork out of the water. Then the cork was under water and FISH ON! haha Landed a 22" inch trout! Man I was sooo stoked, my biggest trout of the season so far. I continued to fish out the creek and found the Old gent fishing near the Landing. He had no luck,a nd I told him I got 2 trout. He said, "you got them in the middle didn't you" I then replied yes. He said "yeah thats where I usually get them."
Anyways, I had a stroke of luck and made my way home with a smile on my face! I hope to do it again next week, with more success. If anyone has fished this area and has some advice I would be appreciative. Seemed like some people were fishing farther up the creek past the Cotton landing heading south. I did not go there, and was wondering if that is where I should have gone. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
