Well, since we have Hurricane Sandy going to shut down the King Season early I was figuring this may be my last king fishing trip for the year. During my work day about 2PM I got a call saying that a king skyed a bait but came off after a 60 yard run. That got my hopes up thinking it could happen. Got to the pier and did some talking to some of those fishing and took some pics. Got down towards the end talking to more people and they were wanting a pic so I said 'let me put out my king rig'. So I got it all setup and went and took a pic and while talking looking over the rail I heard my name my bait was in the water no more then 10 minutes.. I look towards my king rig and my bait gets smashed and the king goes burning out. It dumped half my spool on the first run and it let me get back 20~25 yards and the it made a second hard run of ~100 yards. So I bumped up my drag a touch and started working him back in. My first king of the season on my last day of king fishing. Unless the water looks good tomorrow and I'll got it another go. The king was 23.8 pounds that bit on a live Blue Fish.
