well finally planned a trip up to the bay. We started out about mid year and had everyone lined up and one guy couldn't make it so had to start calling around and called up with Joel Elliott(Spider Crack) and he was good to go. So the guy i usually go with well started out having an issue with his fish finder. So couple weeks ago he had to order a new Simrad NSS8. Well he got that one installed and the next day he was back out in the boat and the GPS quit working. So i just got my boat out and ready to pull it to the bay. pulled my boat out and hooked it up onto the water hose and cranked the motor. checked all the electronice and everything worked fine. So we headed out on friday morning and finally got onto the water around 2pm. Finally ready to launch the boat. got the boat in the water and cranked up and i noticed the pee stream didnt seem to be as hard as normal. but the motor is peeing. so water pump is working... anyway we headed out of lynnhaven inlet and headed across the bay. when we pulled up to the bridge and started to slow down to idle speed. the overheat alarm went off. got the motor rpm back up to 1200 and the heat alarm shut back off. so we knew something wasnt just right.. started to make phone calls around the area up there and talked to norfolk marina. they were very nice. an actual yamaha dealer and had a new water pump in stack. so we chose to fish friday till about 12 midnight. and didnt have a sniff. so saturday morning i have a friend who lives up there and we made a couple call and went to his house with a new waterpump and dropped the lower unit in front of his house and took the cover off the water pump and well it had been hot but the main problem was the water pump had gotten hot and the plastic cover had melter and almost covered the water intake hold going to the motor. We then had to run back to the marina and get a cover. Went back to my friends house and replaced the vocer and water pump and put everything back together and headed to the boat ramp.. finally got back onto the water around 12pm saturday. we headed back out to the bridges and chose to troll for some schoolie action. the smaller fish were all over the bridge and we started hooking up and just had alot of fun even though the fish were not big. the tide changed and we set back up on the bridge and fished till 11pm... even made a couple moves and tried to find some fish. but it just wasnt our trun to catch the big fish this year.. came back home sunday... below are some pics from this trip.
