After the morning hours, I decided to uncase my steffen and fish the headwaters of this creek. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Some of the larger trout really tested the rods limits. It sure was fun having the rod bowed up into a pretzel by a wild rainbow. Here is the headwaters:

And the fat wild trout that call it home.

I cannot even recall how many fish I caught in that stretch. I will delegate the steffen to small trout/small water gear pile. I do love this rod for those small headwater streams. Well worth the money in my opinion!
The following day, the owner of the cabin and another friend met up with me. We fished a little creek that I had fished last month. It is full of big rainbows. Long story short, there is no posted signs on the creek. Some toothless local said he called the police on us. We ran as fast as we could back to the truck, it must have been funny seeing three grown men running/waddling down the road in waders. This creek is lights out good. A fish on every cast kind of creek- mostly rainbows with a brookie here and there. No pictures of the creek other than this one:

The last day of this trip, I decided to fish for native brookies to round out my grand slam. This creek was good to me years ago. Now, it just holds starved, stunted brookies. Hopefully the population dynamic will shift to big fish again soon.

I decided to hit the road early and fish a little wild rainbow stream on the way home.

I ended up landing one of the prettiest little wild rainbows i've ever seen:

As I look outside my window, snow is falling at quite a rapid pace. Sure makes me glad I enjoyed the warm weather and the company of some aggressive trout. Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed tagging along.
