Graham Patrick Hoard....Aug 17,1984 - Jan 12,2013
A man could not possible pick a finer son....... Graham was a fisherman. I don't mean someone who liked to fish,I mean a true "Student of the Game"! He studied fishing,dreamnt about fishing and lived it in every way...... Kayaking was a relatively new interest for Graham,but he sure seemed to have taken to it . In August his mother and I chipped in and gave him the money for a kayak that he'd been wanting for his birthday. He was thrilled! Along with the kayak, I also bought him an automatic,self-inflating PFD. On Saturday afternoon Graham put over in Queens Creek,and for reasons I will never know,he did NOT put it on. I would have saved his life and that will torture me for the rest of my days.
Family and friends gathered today at Pine Valley Church in Wilmington to say goodbye to Graham and it was so beautiful. I will never forget the kindnesses and many uplifting remarks. They will sustain me......
In the next few weeks I will post a date and time when I plan to give Graham's remains back to the river. I hope that as many of you as possible will join us to celebrate the life of a son that I adored beyond words......Until then,please try not to fish alone and please always,ALWAYS wear that PFD
