Absolutely beautiful day to fish today. Mike, Zach, and I left the house around 4:30 am and headed to Blewitt Falls/Pee Dee to fish. After stopping for a buscuit and some shad darts (2 different places LOL) we were at the dam before the sun came up. Set out some lines for the American Shad, but never caught any. Guy down there told us only a few were caught yesterday and no-one had a bite before about 10 so we threw the net and caught some good gizzard shad about 14 inches long so we headed out after about an hour. Put on the Pee Dee and fished a few holes with no bites as the water was running high and strong with a lot of debris coming down the river. Gave up on the river and headed up to the Grassy Island boat ramp at the North end of the Blewitt Falls and started hitting some spots up there. Water color wasn't bad at all and the temps were right around 60 degrees even though the water was up a good bit. Set up on several holes and caught a fish on every one. Lost 2 good cats with broken lines (note to self . . . change leaders more often), but ended the day with several in the boat between 10-15 lbs. Here's a few pics of the nicer ones.
