First Trashcan Slam of the Year!

Went out to my normal spot in hopes to tangle with some gar and bowfin this afternoon. It started out slow with the exception that I was catching some bluegills with a stick and some line. I put on a piece of my mullets guts on the stick and wouldnt you know it a bowfin took the bait. The bait and hook together was about the size of your pinky nail so I guess she was hungry. Too bad for me I got spooled, it snatched the line right off the end of the stick. After a while later I sat the stick down with a piece of fresh cut bluegill and wouldnt you know it I caught a gar with the stick. Now you have to remember I have an expensive baitcaster right next to the stick and its not even getting a knibble. After the gar I hooked another bowfin on the stick but this time she managed to break my stick in half and swam away with the business end of the stick. Not long after I found another stick I caught a small bullhead with the new stick. Now in comes the eels in force. I caught 3 of them in a row with the stick. I hate eels! It was begining to get late and I still wanted that bowfin to complete the slam but it wasnt to be with the stick. I did finally catch a very fat/pregnant 23 1/2" bowfin with my baitcaster so it wasnt skunked and it gave me the slam for the day. Right as I was about to leave I had on a nice gar but it came to the surface smiled, winked, and spit the bait right back at me. They have a way of doing that lol. All in all a nice evening out on the water. Heres the pics. Brad
