Inshore Wind, Rain, Friends, and Trout

I had a few friends from Charlotte come in last night with intentions of doing a little fishing. They didn't care what we fished for they just wanted to fish. Mother Nature tried to keep us away but it takes a lot more than 25 mph NE winds and a little rain to keep me at home. The first couple of stops had me second guessing myself until finally one of my friends cork goes down and he lands a spike trout. After landing his fish I tossed back out with the mr17 in 808 and hooked up on the second twitch and put a nice 17 inch fish in the boat. I thought it was gonna get hot but that was all this spot wanted to give up so I slid down the bank a little. Next spot didn't produce anything so on I went. This time on the first cast a 16 inch trout hits my mirrolure. A few minutes later and my friends mud minnow yields him another spike and Seth lands a 17 inch drum. That spot went dry so down the bank I went. Third cast and I put an 18 inch trout in the boat on the mirrolure and my buddy another spike. Another spike was landed before sliding down the bank to our final spot. It was raining pretty hard and I had a bridge close by that would provide a little shelter so I anchored up under it. After watching Taylor lose 3 fish on a mud minnow I fired the mr 17 and hooked up with a 19 inch trout that turned out to be the big fish of the day. A few minutes goes by and Seth had hooks up with a DOA paddle tail in silver mullet. I grab the net and next thing I know SPLASH! Seth slipped and fell out of the boat and into the water. He disappeared, the only thing visible was about half of the rod. He was still holding on and still bowed up. He popped up and instead of trying to hand off the rod and get back in the boat he continued to reel. He gets the fish in and I scoop a 16 inch striper into the net and Caleb pulls Seth into the boat. Cold and soaking wet but had a grin that stretched ear to ear. I wish I got that on video. Total tally for the day was 10 trout, a drum and a Striper. I landed the only 4 trout on the MR17 and my buddies caught 6 spikes on mud minnows. I tried getting them to use the mirrolure as well but they wanted to fish with bait. All in all it was a great day on the water regardless of the weather.
